straight line

Question

find the gradients of the lines joining using y2-y1/x2-x1

points

H (0,-7) and I (-3,4)

so I did 

4-(-7) over -3-0

which = 11 over -3 but the answers say 1 over 3

who is right and can you explain if the book is right where I went wrong

H (0,-7) and I (-3,4)

 

gradient = slope = (4-(-7))/(-3-0) = 11/-3 = -11/3

 

Your answer is correct.  This is not the first time the book has printed an incorrect answer.
