You use PEMDAS all the time, whether it says to or not.

40+40x0+1=40+0+1=41, not 1

40+40x8+1=40+320+1=361

Always use PEMDAS !

I do not understand why John M would say Always use PEMDAS unless you are told not to.

What justification would allow the suspension of the correct method of evaluating an expression?
