Okay so lets start from the point where we got rid of the mixed numbers.
We have 25/4 + 11/3 and you're right, the LCD is 12. That means we need to multiply the top and bottom of each fraction so that the denominators are now 12
First denominator need to be multiplied by 3:
25 / 4 = (25x3) / (4x3) = 75 / 12
Second denominator need to be multiplied by 4:
11 / 3 = (11x4) / (3x4) = 44 / 12
Sweet! Now that the bottoms match we can add the tops!
75 / 12 + 44 / 12 = 119 / 12
If you are okay with a fraction answer you can stop here, otherwise we have to divide 119 by 12
12 goes completely into 119 9 times (12x9=108)
So now we subract 119-108=11
Finally our answer is 9 11/12 or nine and eleven twelfths.
