26,942 dividend by 900

I don't understand what to do with the remainder. I have to take the military entance exam without a calculator and never seemes to care on Highschool please help

I tutor ASVAB.  You need to know how to convert this to a decimal and a mixed number. Either way you need to know how to do long division. If you do long division you get a remainder of 842. So this would be written as 29  842/900 which you need to reduce. It is unlikely you will see a fraction this big, so they probably just want it in decimal form.

So, you'll end up with 29.9355...repeating.

You should round it off to 29..9 and even better would be to make the answer 30 because of significant figures, which you may or may not have had.  So, never having taken the military exam, I'm not sure what they want you to do with the remainder.
