water flows from a tap 5 litres per minute to fill a pot. it takes 9 seconds to fill the pot to the brim. find the capacity of the pot in ml.

If water flows from the tap at a rate of 5 L/min, then how much water flows from the tap in 9 sec?

 

There are 60 sec in 1 min.

 

We can set up a table like this:

 

5 L     x     1 min    x    9 sec  =  45/60 = 3/4 L

1 min        60 sec

 

Now, how many mL are in 1 L. There are 1000 mL in 1 L, so 3/4 L = 3/4 * (1000) = 750 mL. This is the capacity of the pot in mL.
