In simplest form, you want to know the
largest number that can be divided into
both the numerator and denominator.
In this case, it's 5. The reduction would
look like this:
25 ÷ 5 = 5
-- -- --
80 ÷ 5 16
Another way to do it is to factor each,
then cross off each number that
appears in both the numerator
AND denominator for the same
number of times. Here, the 5 appears
once in BOTH.
25 (5 x 5)
---
80 (5 x 4 x 4)
