Solve the problem of combined variations using a constant of variation. If x varies directly as y and z and inversely as the square of r and x=12 when y=2, z=4 and r=2 find x when y=4, z=32 and r=8.

x = k*(yz/r²)

 

12 = k*(2*4/2²) = k*(8/4) = k*2

 

Solving for k

12 = 2k

6 = k

 

x = 6*(yz/r²)
