Hi Celeste,
I'm not familiar with using the term socio-emotional to describe a behavior. The common usage of the term is related to a theory called socio-emotional development.
The behavior you're describing seems rather emotionally charged, not cognitive at all. It also displays an issue with the young adult's socio-emotional development. A typical young adult has matured enough to handle rejection better, wouldn't you agree?
I hope that helps.
