f'(x) is the 1st derivative, f''(x) is the 2nd derivative and so forth.

 

For polynomials the power rule is used to find the derivatives

 

f(x)=x²−5x+6

f'(x)=2x-5

f''(x)=2

f'''(x)=0

 

f(x)=7x−2x⁸

f'(x)=7-16x⁷

f''(x)=112x⁶

f'''(x)=672x⁵
