Find the 1st and second derivative of y=x^3/3+x^2/2+x/4

My answer is x^2/9+x/4however back of the book says x^2+x

Why 4 and not 1/4??

Power down says take x^1 down one power to X^0 = 1. Then all that is left is the original coefficient 4 multiplied by the power (1)
