The number of acorns per hour or a/h = 5/3 acorns per hour
Multiply that by 9 hours
(5/3)(9) = 15 acorns in 9 hours if she started at zero.
Since she has 27 acorns at 9 hours instead of 15 then
she must have started with 12 acorns already. Thus
the equation to find out how many acorns she will have
after x hours is:
y = (5/3)x + 12
2. To collect 60 acorns:
(5/3)x + 12 = 60
(5/3) x = 48
x = 48(3/5)
x = 144/5
x = 28 4/5 hours
(4/5 hours)(60 min/hr) = 4(12) = 48 mins
Total time 28 hours 48 mins
