Ok, so now its kind of obvious you are just trying to find a lot of help with your homework.  If I answer this one, pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase press the like button on it :)

The question is asking about miles per gallon.  Think about how many gallons of gas did dixie use? Good, 8.  How did you get that? Yes, 16 - 8.  

And how many miles did the car drive? Yes, that is what an odometer tells you.  So if it went from 12,584 up to 12,792, then it went a total of...........c'mon now...........do the math............Yes, 208 miles.  So how many miles does each gallon account for? Yes, 208 divided by 8.  Ok, now do the math. Like I said before, I'm here to get liked on my profile, not to do your dirty work.  Ok, good job, yes, it is 26 so the car gets 26 miles per gallon.  

Is Austin about that far from Houston? I have no idea, you are the one from Texas.  Go look at a map.
