I'm not very smart when it comes to setting up equations from word problems.... Please help!

 

Three people have a total of 80$ one person has twice as μch as the other 2. An algebraic model for determining how much each person has could be …. How much money does each person have?

Let M = the amount of money first person has.

M = the amount of money the second person has.

2M = the amount of money the third person has (twice as much as the other two)

 

The total = 80

 

M + M + 2M = 80

4M = 80

M = 20

 

Two person have $20 and the third has $40.
