Hello, you can choose one of several methods to sew an invisible zipper into dress, pants, or purse. It's easiest to start with the pieces flat, before the other seams are sewn.
First, you'll want to use a method to hold your zipper pieces into place. Choose either straight pins or thin basting tape (available in sewing shops or online).
Second, use large running straight stitches along each side of the zipper. Your stitches do not need to be tiny or perfect; they will simply hold your stitches in place. If you used straight pins, remove those now.
Third, select a method to secure the final stitches for your garment. Options include hand-stitching using small, even stitches or using sewing machine stitches. Hand stitches are used to secure zippers in high-fashion or couture sewing, so there's no shame in hand-sewing a zipper! If you install the zipper on the machine, a narrow zipper "foot" often yields the best results. (New sewing machines often come with this accessory.) Don't forget to backstitch to hold your new zipper seams.
Lastly, remember to neaten your zipper by clipping basting stitches and thread tails. Now you can admire the new zipper!
