Sstandard Precautions aka Universal Sanitation is a multi level practice, keeping not only the work place and work stations clean and free if contaminated materials, food, bodily fluids and the like, that transmit harmful bacteria if not cleaned regularly. Using hospital grade disinfectants, known as quats (most popular) should be used on all surfaces people use often or work at. This includes, front desk, phones, chairs and arm rest. Shampoo bowls, sinks, counters and tables, should be sprayed and wiped after every service. Though unlikely a blood spill must be handled accordingly to precautions set by State Board and require the use of PPE's, which should be immediately disposed of and replaced a fresh for each new service. Tools should never be left out dirty or partially submerged in disinfectant. There should at all times be, washed and cleaned and dried, disinfected and though not required by SB, sterilized implements is the highest level of sanitation and kills all pathogens and spores. No one step can be done, without the other to ensure safe salon services and clean work environment
