A 1-dollar bill is 6.14 inches long, 2.61 inches wide, and 0.0043 inch thick. 

 

A 1-dollar bill is you spread a billion 1-dollar bills over the ground, how many square miles would they cover? Round your answer to the nearest square mile.

Length of dollar bill = 6.14 inches

width of dollar bill = 2.61 inches

 

Area of 1 dollar bill = 6.14 * 2.61 sq inch

 

1 inch = 1.5783 *10^(-5) mile

 

So area of 1 dollar bill = 6.14*2.61*(1.5783)^2*10^(-10)

 

= 39.92*10^(-10)

 

1 billion = 10^9

 

Area 1 billion dollar bills = 39.92*10^(-10)*10^9 sq miles

= 3.99 sq miles
