Absolutely. Sealants seal off pits and fissures in teeth where bacteria reside. A strong acid is used to kill the bacteria in there and prepare the tooth so that it can bond to the material better, and then when the sealant is on, it helps keep bacteria off. Normally, most adults don't need it because they have learned good oral hygiene practices, but there is definitely no harm in it!
