If you want to set a task to only occur on selected dates, I would set a date constraint such as Must Start On. I would also add a note to the task to explain why this date constraint has been applied. Normally I do this if there is an external factor that requires this date to be set.
To do this, double click on the task and then go to the advanced tab. Choose the Must Start On constraint type and then choose the date that you want this task to be required to start on.
