From a linguist perspective, what are some differences between Portuguese and Spanish?

There are plenty of differences between both languages for example if someone says, I would like white wine. in Spanish it would be, "Quisiera vino blanco" however in Portuguese it would be "Gostaria de vinho branco". We can see that the words vino and vinho are similar just as the words blanco and branco are similar.
