I currently live in Colorado and am making decisions about school/my career. I am mostly interested/passionate about skin care and the esthetician side of things, but I’ve heard that not all states will let you work as one of you only have that certification and not the full cosmetology license?
Is this true? My husband and I are planning on moving out of state in the next several years after our schooling, possibly to Hawaii, possibly elsewhere.
Does anyone know of different requirements for different states? Or resources on how to find out?
Thanks!!
In response to your question when I was teaching cosmetology being an estitician was another course altogether. There was also animosity because the Esti's didn't feel that they should perform their sanitation duties. Each state is different with how many school hours you have to have in order to get your license. Call the state Board of Health and inquire. I myself have both my Barber's and Cosmetology license.
