LPN or LVN licences are hired more frequently in nursing homes, medical offices, etc.
If you are looking to work in specialty areas within a hospital, they require an RN license.
Most hospitals are looking for RNs with a Bachelors now as well, so it is much more difficult for an LPN to get hired in a hospital setting unless it is as a PCT or Unit Secretary.
This is based upon my experience in California, Texas, and Florida. If other states are using other practices, I am unaware of I apologize.
If you are looking for advice, I encourage you to pursue the RN if at all possible.
