How many questions do you need to pass Nclex?

Before you can even sit for the NCLEX you have to go through your state board and apply for a license. You will know you’re eligible to schefule your NCLEX when you get your ATT letter in the mail (authorization to test).

NCLEX exam cost is $200

Subject Matter:

1. Management of Coordinated Care (Advocacy, client rights, confidently, continuity of care, ethical practice, informed consent, information technology, legal responsibilities, performance improvement).
2. Basic Care & Comfort (Assistive devices, elimination, mobility/immobility, nutrition & oral hydration, personal hygiene, rest & sleep).
3. Health Promotion & Maintenance (Aging process, developmental stages, disease prevention, health screening, high-risk behaviors, lifestyle choices, self-care).
4. Psychosocial Integrity (Abuse/neglect, coping mechanisms, crisis intervention, cultural awareness, family dynamic, grief & loss, mental health, stress management, substance abuse).
5. Physiological Adaptation (Fluid/electrolyte imbalances, illness management, medical emergencies, pathophysiology, unexpected response to therapies).
6. Pharmacological and Parenteral Therapies (Adverse effects, blood products, disease calculations, expected outcomes, medication administration, pharmacological pain management).
7. Reduction of Risk Potential (Changes/abnormalities in vital signs, diagnostic tests, laboratory values, potential for complications, therapeutic procedures).
8. Safety & Infection Control (Accident/injury prevention, emergency response plan, ergonomic principles, hazardous materials, home safety, safe use of equipment, security plan).

NCLEX-RN: Minimum 75 questions .... Maximum 265 questions

NCLEX exams are computer adaptive tests (CATs). Meaning that the questions you receive are in direct response to the questions you previously answered. If you answered the last question wrong, your next question will be a little easier. If you answered the last question right, the next question will be a little more difficult.

How long it takes to complete this exam is based on the number of answer correctly or the time allotted. If the computer can clearly assess your level of competence after the minimum number of questions, the test will be over and you will either pass or fail.
