Experienced Nurse Educator wants to help you become a nurse!
Hi. The NCLEX exam is the same in all states. However you must register through the state in which you reside and intend to work. If you are to move to another state once you pass the NCLEX, you may apply for a new license through reciprocity. There are also 34 states involved in the Nursing Compact, which allows your one nursing license registered in the state you reside, to be eligible for use within these 34 states. For example I now live in NC, which is one of the states in the Nursing compact. This means I can travel and work in one of the other compact states without needed a new license. Previously I lived in NY which does not belong to the compact. Therefore I had to apply for a new license in North Carolina. Thank you. - Shri
