If you have an item that is sold at list price, the item would be L. If you took off 10% of the list price it would be the List price - 10% of the LIst price and that would equal the Sale price. So an equation could look like this...
L - .10L = S... I suppose we could combine our like terms on the left side of the equation, so the left side would be, let'see, what is L - .10L???
