It apparently related to one or two step equations. Your supposed to form the word problem into a math problem and then solve it. 

 

Ex: Eight more than a number is 20. Find the number. 

 

8+x=20

-8     -8

 

x=12

 

 

So you would use the words in the problem to make it a math problem.

7x-9 =75

 

7x = 84
