In a class of 48 students, there are 8 more boys than girls. how many boys are there?

Now, how many students are there, altogether? (You will get an equation that you can solve. Once you know g, then# boys is g+8.

 Total of 48 students.    It says 8 more boys than girls   =8 +g.

So we have  : 

 

                           8 +g + g     =48 .                                                   

 

               =        8    +  2g      =48.

                         -8                     -8.

                                   2g           =40.

                                 ____________

                                    2.                2.

 

                                      g      =       20.            No. of girls   =20.    Now, eight more boys =20 +8  = 28.

 

                        No. of boys =28.

 

                       No. of girls =  20.

                                              ____

                        Total:              48.
