asked 11/16/17The answer is either parallel, perpendicular, or neither.
Is 4x+6y=-8 parallel, perpendicular, or neither?
Is 3y=2x+5 parallel, perpendicular, or neither?
Is y=3/2x-3 parallel, perpendicular, or neither?
Thanks for the help!

Parallel lines have the same slope.
Perpendicular lines have slopes that are NEGATIVE reciprocals.
That means you flip it over AND change the sign.
Example 4/5 vs. -5/4
3 and -1/3
You need to write them in slope intercept form to get the slope : y = Mx +b
where M is the slope.
first line:
4x + 6y = -8
2x + 3y = -4 <--- divides everything by 2
3y = -4 - 2x
y = -4/3 - 2/3x
y = -2/3x + -4/3
the slope of the first line is -2/3
second line:
3y = 2x + 5
y = 2/3x + 5/2 <--- divides everything by 3
The slope of the second line is 2/3
third line:
the slope of the third line is 3/2
Line 1 and Line 3 are perpendicular
Line 1 and Line 2 are neither parallel
nor perpendicular. They will meet
at one point
LIne 2 and Line3 are neither parallel
nor perpendicular . They will meet
at one point.
