You probably mean that each manager has 5 people reporting directly to him (or her).

If the company consisted only of managers and direct-reporting staff, it still gets complicated because managers have managers, too. Tackle this problem by scaling it down, to see what you can find in a smaller company, perhaps working upward from the bottom, and find an algorithm for computing how many people there are. It still could get complicated!
