1/2-1 1/3 =
turn into improper fraction
1/2-(3*1+1)/3=1/2-4/3=
then make common denominator to substract
(1/2)*(3/3)-(4/3)*(2/2)=
3/6-8/6=-5/6

1/2 -1/3 =

make the common denominator, so you can subtract.

   3/6  - 2 /6 = 1/6

1/2 - (1 1/3)

= 1/2 - (1 + 1/3)

= 1/2 - 1 - 1/3

= 1/2 - 2/2 - 1/3

= (1 - 2)/2 - 1/3

= -1/2 - 1/3

= -1*3/(2*3) - 1*2/(3*2)

= -3/6 - 2/6

= (-3 - 2)/6

= -5/6
