Hello Hector,
Lets set her hourly rate to "x" and make an equation out of the word problem. She worked 40 hrs and her hourly rate so the would be 40 times "x" or 40x. And she worked 8 hours at time and a half so that would be 8 times 1.5x or 8(1.5x). Now lets add those two together and set it equal to her total pay of $572.
40x+8(1.5x)=572
8 * 1.5 = 12
40x+12x=572
52x=572
x=11
So her hourly wage is $11/hr. You can check it by recalculating the hours worked from the above problem with $11 as the wage and you will find she would earn $572.
