A box has a width 9 inches less than its height, and a length 6 inches more than its height. If h is the height of the box, write a polynomial that represents the volume of the box.use this polynomial to calculate the volume for h=25 inches. Let h be the height of the box.

length h+6

 

polynomial for the volume of the box  V=      l    *      w  *  h

                                                        V = (h + 6) (h-9) h

 

so to calculate the volume , plug in 25 for h

 

                                                        V= (25+6)(25-9) 25

                                                         V= (31)(16)(25)

                                                        V = 12,400 inches cubed
