To find the midpoint of a segment you have to find the midpoints of the x and the y coordinates. The midpoint between two numbers is the average.  

 

x:   (-13-15)/2 = -28/2 = -14

 

y:   (-22-10)/2 = -32/2 = -16

 

Therefore the midpoint of the segment P (-13,-22) and Q(-15,-10) is the point  (-14,-16)

      The midpoint of any line segment is when P(x₁,y₁) and Q(x₂,y₂) is given by the formula,

 

M  = ((x₁ + x₂)/2,(y₁ + y₂)/2).  In other words, we take the average of the x coordinates to the get the x-coordinate of the midpoint, and we take the average of the y-coordinates to get the y-coordinate of the midpoint.

 

So, the x-coordinate of the midpoint is (-13 + (-15))/2 = -14

The y-coordinate of the midpoint is (-22 + (-10))/2 = -16

 

So the midpoint of PQ is (-14,-16)
