In the eighth grade 322 students voted for the new mascot to be a tiger this was 7/10 of the total number of students in the eighth grade how many students are in eighth grade

We know that 7/10 of the total 8th grade students is 322

Let S = # 8th grade students

 

This gives us the following equation:

 

(7/10)S = 322     multiply both sides by 10/7

S = 322(10/7)

S = 322(10)/7

S = 3220/7

S = 460

 

There are 460 total students in the eight grade.
