Let's call the age of the first man, F; and the age of the second man, S.
"One man is three times as old as another": F=3S
"Fifteen years ago the first was six times as old as the second": F-15=6(S-15)
"Find their ages now": We need to solve the above two simultaneous equations which encapsulate the
information given in the question.
Substitute 3S for F in the second equation:
3S-15=6(S-15)
75=3S
S=25 and F=3S=75
So the age of the first man is 75 years and the second is 25 years.
Check: 75-3*25 yes 60=6*10 yes
