I graduated at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. I have a Bachelor Degree in Education, and I am pursuing my certification. I have been working as a bilingual elementary substitute teacher for more than 10 years. I substitute teachers from from different grades levels. Working in elementary schools has giving me the experience that I need to tutor students from K-6 grades. I have been tutoring students outside my job, and they have been improving their grades. Bilingual I am enthusiastic and fun at tutoring children. I think that students should have fun learning!
In Kindergarten classes, I teach language art classes in Spanish and Science and Social Studies in English (ESL classes). I teach the ABC, frequency words, the onset and rhymes so students can start creating words by themselves. Eventually, students start reading and writing. I also teach students the numbers (1-100) and addition and subtractions etc. In second grade, I teach students how to add and subtract (how to regroup). In second grade, students are also expected to read more fluently. In third grade, students are taught multiplications so it is important that students learn their multiplication tables (1-12). Students are also taught addition and multiplication properties (associate, commutative, distributive). In fourth grade, I teach students multiplication tables and division problems and probability. In fifth grade, I also teach multiplication properties (associate, commutative, distributive etc.), pre-geometry and pre-algebra, word and probability problems. In sixth grade, students are also taught multiplication properties, geometry, and algebra, place value, linear functions, measures of center. It is important to model all the assignments before giving them to the students. As a bilingual substitute teacher, It is important the students learn in an enthusiastic and fun environment.

Knowledgeable, kind and patient tutor

Alma is extremely patient and wonderfully enthusiastic. I'm not a particularly fast learner and she's great at going back and reviewing things so that I'm not missing anything. Highly, highly recommend!
