University of Houston (MBA)
I hold undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Finance, as well as an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston. I have successfully instructed university courses as an adjunct professor in the areas of Accounting and Finance for 8 years, and have also tutored these subjects (as well as Math, as I have a strong Math background, having taken two courses in Calculus at the University of Houston) at the same university over the same timeframe - in fact, I won an annual university award for doing so! This experience, as well as my professional experience in the fields of Accounting and Finance, has been mutually beneficial for both the students I have tutored, as well as myself. I have tremendous patience, and continually developed methodologies to impart such knowledge. I am very excited to have this opportunity to put my knowledge and experience to work for you - you will not be disappointed, as I shall strive to exceed your expectations! Beyond Anthony's wealth of knowledge on the subject, he has the social qualities of being calm, friendly, sociable, and above all, a great listener. On the homework questions when I didn't know where to start, I often had to talk my way through it to understand. Anthony provided a safe atmosphere where I felt comfortable admitting my limited or non understanding of the concept, or questioned the reasoning behind certain approaches. He would then translate the concept from accounting and finance lingo into a language I could understand. I will be using him again next week to prepare for my MBA final exam! Thanks Anthony!
I took with Anthony a tutoring session in Economics and he was really terrible. Before the session I asked him if I can send him the questions I need help on through email so he can check if he is familiar with these topics and we can go forward from this point. I sent him the questions and he responded that he is familiar with these topics and we can schedule the session. When we met in the tutoring session I was shocked to find him having a hard time to go through some questions and he was consulting my school course book. When I asked him why did you tell me then that you are familiar with these questions and I have an important exam soon, he responded "you do not have to take my word." Really! I was really shocked.
Really?! I am truly shocked to find such an utter lack of appreciation and graciousness from a student I helped tremendously in dire need, and on extremely short notice. It is TRULY AMAZING THAT HE MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION OF ALL THE FINANCE MATERIAL/SESSIONS I HELPED HIM WITH FOR WHICH HE LEFT ME 5-STAR RATINGS..AND, HE ASKED ME FOR MORE TUTORING HELP AFTER THIS SESSION (WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE)!! Further, I in fact helped him very effectively with his economics material (as I've done in economics with many other students via WyzAnt, and elsewhere), but made sure to reference any material he had to ascertain it was in the correct format, etc., as I, or anyone does, sometimes, with more complex subject matter - it would be irresponsible for me to do so otherwise! And, my comment was in response to his persistent questioning whether I knew what I was telling him with regards to the material - of course I knew it, or I would have told him otherwise, and done so in the first place! Lastly, I encourage anyone to review my tutoring feedback and ratings, and see how I can help you with your needs ~ I look forward to it!! -Thanks!
Anthony is a great tutor. I had a very challenging class in Managerial Accounting and he helped me to understand the complex concepts that I was struggling with.
Anthony has been a great teacher to me. I needed help preparing for a midterm and he was great. Very patient through the whole experience.
Anthony's method of thoughtfully and carefully pushing me to use my current level of critical thinking on the material first and then challenge my choices has built my confidence and revealed a base level that was easy to tackle my weaknesses in a manageable way to excel. He works as a teammate and is really a great tutor.
I been in contact with Anthony throughout the semester of my accounting class this year. If it wasn't for him I probably would have failed the class. He is such a awesome tutor and really teaches you the material and helps you understand it. If you're looking for help, this is the guy you need to contact. I will be using him again next semester.
Anthony is a fantastic tutor. Relatable to a professor, he is accommodating and willing to help with all aspects of a problem. He will not give you important answers right away, but rather get you to figure out the solution yourself.
I was skeptical at first on trying to get tutoring over the phone. Boy, was I wrong. I sent him screenshots of what I was working on to his email. Once I did that, he opened up my eyes to a whole new world of phone call tutoring. He made me a believer!!! He went slow. He explained everything from the beginning to the end. He left no stone unturned; very thorough!!! Will use in the future!!! Thanks, Anthony!
Anthony is a great tutor. He is very professional and patient. I am very happy to have him as a tutor. He explains the lessons very well. Since I am not from the country and I am learning English as a second languages, Anthony always find a way for me to understand how Accounting works. Because or him I got a B (83%) on my accounting test. I am very happy and plan to have him again. Thank you WyzAnt for helping us find an excellent tutor.
It has been a pleasure working with Anthony. He helped me to understand finance concepts that were going over my head in a way that was not only easy to understand but applied the concepts to real live scenarios. I enjoyed working with Anthony and look forward to working with him in the future for any additional finance/statistical needs.
During my recent session, I was having trouble understanding how to put entries into a balance sheet ledger. I just could not grasp the concept of how to determine if the entry goes on the assets or liabilities side. Mr. Anthony drew me a picture of a SEE SAW and explained how when you want balance you add a person on each side, but if you take a person away on side you have to quickly replace that person to maintain balance. I thought to myself, wow a simple drawing explained a fairly complex subject matter. Now I will see the SEE SAW in my mind when doing journal entries. Mr. Anthony has been readily available for sessions and has given me great information in practical and digestible forms. He is very helpful and informative and well versed in Finance topics.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I learned to play 5-card Draw poker when I was 10 years old. I first learned the ranking of the different hands, and then the order of betting, and strategies. About 20 years ago, I learned Hold'em, 7-card Stud (regular and Hi-Low), Omaha, and Razz, and over the last 12 years have played in numerous cash and money tournament games online at Party Poker, and Poker Stars, and regular weekly home cash games. I have won in several of these tournaments and on balance in cash games, and have helped a few people learn the game along the way. Thus, I am respected by my peers with regards to this great American game!
