Hi, I’m Joshua, a professional math tutor and experienced educator who helps students move from frustration to understanding.

I have over a decade of experience teaching high school and college-level mathematics, with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and graduate-level coursework in math and statistics. I’ve taught everything from foundational algebra to advanced high school and college topics, and I specialize in working with students who feel stuck, behind, or discouraged by math.

My tutoring style is calm, focused, and highly individualized. I’m especially effective with students who don’t consider themselves “math people,” or who’ve struggled in traditional classrooms. We slow things down, identify gaps, and build understanding step by step, without pressure or judgment.

Whether you’re preparing for an exam, trying to pass a challenging course, or rebuilding your math skills for college, grad school, or a career change, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

Common areas I help with: Algebra I–II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, and college-level math courses.

ACT Math

ACT Math

As a high school teacher and university-level instructor/tutor I know exactly what skills students need to succeed on college entrance exams. My educational background includes mathematics from algebra through calculus and beyond. I excel at breaking down concepts into clear language that students can understand.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I specialize in helping students build a strong foundation in Algebra 1, including solving linear equations and inequalities, graphing, working with proportions, and tackling word problems. I’ve supported students in college prep settings, university outreach programs, and one-on-one sessions. My approach focuses on clear explanations, steady skill-building, and developing the confidence students need to succeed in higher-level math.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I help students strengthen their Algebra 2 skills by focusing on key topics like quadratic equations, systems of equations, rational expressions, functions, exponentials, and logarithms. Whether a student needs review or enrichment, I break down complex ideas into manageable steps and focus on helping them build the confidence and accuracy needed for success in upper-level math and standardized tests.
Calculus

Calculus

I have extensive experience tutoring both high school and college students in calculus, including AP Calculus AB/BC and university-level Calculus I–III. My academic background includes advanced coursework in calculus, differential equations, and real analysis. I aim to help students strengthen their problem-solving skills while building a clear, intuitive understanding of key concepts.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I’ve helped many college students succeed in discrete math courses by focusing on clear explanations and structured problem-solving. My academic background includes discrete mathematics, combinatorics, logic, and probability, all of which are foundational to this subject. I work with students on topics like set theory, logic, proofs, recurrence relations, counting techniques, and graph theory, tailoring sessions to their course content and comfort level.
Finite Math

Finite Math

I help students succeed in finite math by breaking down topics like linear models, matrices, systems of equations, probability, counting, logic, and basic financial math. Many students take finite math as part of a business or social science program, and I specialize in making the material approachable, practical, and easy to follow. My background in advanced math and statistics allows me to explain both the procedures and the reasoning behind them in a way that builds confidence and lasting understanding. I hold a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and have completed graduate-level coursework in math and statistics.
Geometry

Geometry

I taught high school geometry for ten years and have also tutored students at the college level. My academic background includes geometry coursework in both undergraduate and graduate study. I help students develop a solid understanding of key topics like angles, triangles, circles, coordinate geometry, proofs, and constructions. My approach emphasizes clear explanations, visual reasoning, and logical thinking to build both skills and confidence.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I’ve helped many university students succeed in linear algebra by providing clear explanations and step-by-step problem solving. My academic background includes courses in matrix algebra, linear algebra, and modern algebra at both the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as applied statistics courses like linear regression that rely heavily on linear algebra concepts. I work with students on core topics such as vector spaces, matrix operations, systems of equations, determinants, eigenvalues, and diagonalization.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I work with students to build a strong foundation in Prealgebra, covering key skills like operations with fractions and decimals, solving basic equations, working with ratios and proportions, and understanding integers and variables. My goal is to help students feel more confident and prepared as they transition into Algebra and higher-level math. I focus on clear explanations, patient guidance, and steady progress tailored to each student’s pace and learning style.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I help students succeed in Precalculus by reinforcing core algebra skills while building their understanding of more advanced topics like polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic expressions, trigonometry, and introductory limits. My experience working with high school and college students allows me to adapt to different course structures and learning styles. I focus on clear explanations and strong problem-solving habits to prepare students for the transition into Calculus.
Probability

Probability

I help students understand core probability concepts such as independent and dependent events, conditional probability, permutations and combinations, expected value, and basic distributions. My academic background includes advanced coursework in probability, statistics, and combinatorics, and I’ve worked with students across disciplines including math, statistics, business, and computer science. I focus on building intuition and giving students a structured approach to solving problems confidently.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I help students prepare for the SAT Math section by building a strong grasp of core topics like algebra, functions, geometry, data analysis, and word problems. I also focus on test-taking strategies such as identifying shortcuts, eliminating answer choices, and managing time effectively. My background in advanced mathematics and teaching experience allows me to explain concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles. I work with students at all levels to boost their confidence and performance on test day.
Statistics

Statistics

I work with students on a wide range of statistics topics including descriptive statistics, probability, distributions, sampling, hypothesis testing, regression, and interpreting data. My academic background includes extensive coursework in both theoretical and applied statistics, and I’ve helped students in math, psychology, business, and health sciences. I focus on building conceptual understanding and showing students how to approach problems methodically and with confidence.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I help students master trigonometry topics such as right triangle ratios, unit circle definitions, graphing trig functions, inverse trig, identities, and applications. My advanced math background allows me to explain both the “how” and the “why” behind trig relationships, helping students connect formulas to real understanding. I support learners at all levels, whether they’re preparing for Precalculus, standardized tests, or just trying to feel more confident in class.

helped me do assignments without prior knowledge

Sometimes it can harder for a tutor to understand a assessment without sending it ahead but he managed to work through it .
