Hello! My name is Krishna, I’m a Rice University graduate with a bachelors degree in Biochemistry and a fourth-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine. My passion for teaching goes way back. I started tutoring in high school at a Kumon Learning Center, where I helped students build strong foundations in math and reading. In college, I continued as a teaching assistant and tutor at Rice University, supporting students in biochemistry and other pre-medical coursework. In medical school, I’ve continued tutoring in math, science, and standardized test prep while also mentoring through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for the past three years. Over time, I’ve worked with students of many different ages, academic levels, and goals ranging from middle schoolers learning algebra to pre-med students aiming for high MCAT scores.
My tutoring philosophy is built on the belief that every student can succeed with the right individualized structure, plan, and support. I scored in the 99th percentile on both the SAT and MCAT, and I use those experiences to teach content and key strategies: how to break down complex problems, recognize patterns, and think critically under pressure which I believe give my students an edge. I tailor my sessions to each student’s learning style, focusing on building understanding rather than memorization. Whether it’s Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, or standardized test prep, I try to foster understanding by breaking down problems into simple, logical steps and connecting them to real-world applications. I also help students develop study plans and goals so they can build lasting confidence and independence. What I care about most is creating a learning environment that feels empowering and builds students up. My goal is for my students to walk into exams or classrooms feeling capable and prepared. If that’s the kind of support you’re looking for, I’d be excited to work with you.
