Hi, I'm Dohoon! I graduated as valedictorian of my high school, and I am now a student at Rice University majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering and minoring in Engineering Design. As a middle schooler, I always found it difficult to just memorize formulas, so I appreciated when teachers took the time to explain why things are the way they are. Having that deeper understanding made everything click for me, and it’s the approach I try to bring to my own teaching.

In addition to my own academic experience, I had the opportunity to tutor middle school students as a high schooler. During this time, I realized how much I enjoy helping younger students build confidence in subjects they find difficult, particularly in math. My goal as a tutor has always been to teach in a way that feels intuitive to the student, rather than just memorizing formulas or rules. I make sure to take as much time as needed for a student to really understand how something works. Whether it’s a complicated math problem or a tricky concept, I focus on breaking things down into simple terms that make sense to the student. I believe that true understanding comes from grasping the "why" behind the answers, not just knowing how to get to them.
