Hello! My name is Vivian, and I am a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. I graduated Top 1% of my class with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry, a certificate in Children & Society, and a minor in Health Communications. I am current a first-year medical student at the Tilman J. Hello! My name is Vivian, and I am a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. I graduated Top 1% of my class with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry, a certificate in Children & Society, and a minor in Health Communications. I am current a first-year medical student at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine in Houston, TX, and I hope to one day become a pediatrician!

My favorite classes have been professors that puts an emphasis on students' individual learning preferences. As a visual learner myself, I learn best by seeing animations of DNA replication, following a drawing of the Kreb's Cycle, and using colors to code each organelle in a cell. I believe that finding that perfect learning style for each student is the most effective path to excelling in classes. My lesson plans typically begin with a discussion on the basics of the subject and the student's preferred learning style. I will then teach the subject, providing various problems to keep track of the student's progress. At the end of the lesson, I typically recap important points throughout the lesson with the student to confirm understanding.

I have tutoring experience from middle school to college students. In high school, I was a private tutor for middle school students in preparations for their state math assessment. In college, I worked at my university's tutoring center, where I tutored introductory Chemistry, Biology, and Organic Chemistry. Due to the pandemic, I gained a lot of experience with teaching virtually, especially the importance of being flexible and understanding of technological limitations. I have volunteered to teach students from middle school to high school in science courses virtually. Just this past year, I have tutored about 700 hours of Chemistry, Biology, and Biochemistry through Wyzant and private tutoring.

My high school sophomore daughter was struggling with Honors Chemistry and thanks to Vivian, she is now keeping up with the class.
