I'm Afsah! I graduated summa cum laude with a dual Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, and Human Studies and Family Development, with a minor in Sociology. Throughout my academic journey, what has stood out to me is the fact that there are certain teachers who go that extra mile, and take those extra few minutes, to give more examples or detailed explanations. They make their classes so interesting and comprehensible with their desire to ensure that their students grasp the concepts...

I'm Afsah! I graduated summa cum laude with a dual Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, and Human Studies and Family Development, with a minor in Sociology. Throughout my academic journey, what has stood out to me is the fact that there are certain teachers who go that extra mile, and take those extra few minutes, to give more examples or detailed explanations. They make their classes so interesting and comprehensible with their desire to ensure that their students grasp the concepts thoroughly, and leave such positive vibes regarding the subject.
This perspective and my 3+ years of tutoring experience working with K-6 Elementary students are two of the elements of strength that make me an engaging and efficient tutor.
I customize my lesson plans according to individual needs and learning styles. After getting an idea of my student's familiarity with the subject, I pick up where they are faltering and dive into further instruction, teaching them the concepts in detail, emphasizing their understanding practice, and reviewing as we go. With the parent's consent, I also assign small homework tasks for further practice.
I believe that everyone can and should always keep learning and improving; maybe not on the same day or in the same way, but the child will get it, and no one will get left behind. As parents and tutors, we must work together and help them. Any suggestions and/or resources that students or parents can provide are most welcome since we all have the same end goal; to ensure that the student benefits to the max. and succeeds.

I am offering to tutor for K-5 Elementary English (Reading, Comprehension, Grammar), Elementary Math, and Elementary Science.
I can assist with academic papers and writing for undergraduate-level students as well.
I also provide Qaida Nooraniya and Quran tajweed and recitation classes to ladies and children.

I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, hence studied the Noorani Ro'yah Kitab ( Letters, sounds, linking), and the Quran with native Arab instructors for 15 years. I can teach the basic Quranic Arabic from beginning letters up to fluently reading directly from the Quran (explaining the rules of reciting, the different type of letter sounds, etc.), in native talaffuz(accent) along with Hifz (learning by heart) of duas, Amma Para( 30th section ) surahs 24+ short surahs.

Effective education and communicator

Mrs. Afsah has been tutoring my daughter for a few weeks now in Math and Reading Comprehension. My daughter was receiving failing scores in Math but today she came home from school and was so excited that she was the first to complete her Math assignment (fractions) and was very confident that she received a perfect score. For this alone, I am thankful for Mrs. Asfah and the help she has provided for my 4th grader. My daughter was unhappy in the beginning as she didn't want to spend her free time in tutoring.
