I am a mathematics teacher at Boston Latin School and have been teaching Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus for 20 years. I also coach football and baseball, and I tell people regularly that I've got my dream job! Having the chance to interact with nearly 200 students and student-athletes every day is a gift that I am truly grateful for.
I studied Math and Deaf Studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and I graduated in 2003. My high school math teacher, who is one of the biggest reasons why I am a math teacher today, encouraged my classmates and me to "major in something that you love." Majoring in math was an easy choice for me, and I loved every class I took both at the undergraduate level and at the graduate level. I earned my Master's in Teaching High School Mathematics from Boston College in 2006, and I have been fortunate to be a math teacher at The Latin School ever since.
I have enjoyed teaching large groups of students every day during the school year, but I also recognize how much a student can benefit from one-on-one sessions, especially in mathematics. I am comfortable tutoring students who are struggling in a math class and feel like they just don't understand anything. I am comfortable tutoring students who are looking for some extra support to deepen their understanding and earn a better grade. And I am comfortable tutoring students who are already doing very well in their current class and are looking to maintain an A average or push themselves with challenges beyond the traditional curriculum. If you have a student in grades 7-12 who is looking for support in math, I hope you'll consider contacting me to see if we're a fit. Thank you!
