Here's some quick background info: I'm a theoretical physicist that works in string theory and black holes. I am currently on break from a visiting fellowship at Peking University (in Beijing, China). Currently, I spend my time wandering Harvard's Jefferson Lab and MIT's CTP talking physics with past colleagues/professors until it's time for me to fly back to China. I also tutor on the side and have done so for over 8 years.

I also tutor on the side and have done so for over 8 years.

I love physics and math, and teaching students to understand and appreciate the esoteric complexity and elegant simplicity behind both subjects gives me great satisfaction. In addition to these subjects, I can also tutor a variety of other courses, especially those involving philosophy or linguistics, where my love for argument and language manifests itself quite clearly. I also love billiards/pool, but I doubt too many people are looking for tutoring in that.

I have literally been doing math my whole life (and have tutored it for much of that life). I received my B.S. in math (and another in physics) at MIT (where it is called course 18). I currently work in theoretical physics (a field which demands a high competency in math). Granted, being good at something doesn't mean one is good at teaching it, but it certainly helps. My focus is always on understanding as opposed to just rote memorization of techniques and problem-solving methods. Although this can sometimes frustrate a student just wanting an answer, it always pays off in the end.

I have based my life and career in physics. If there is one thing in life I am good at, it is physics (and math). I can't imagine anything cooler than trying to understand reality, and that's exactly what physics is: rigorous exploration and analysis of one's reality. If that doesn't get the hair on the back of your neck to stand up, I don't know what will. Many students think physics is too difficult for them and just not their subject, but I refuse to accept that. Underlying physics and all its apparent complications is a beautiful sim

Very helpful

Eric reviewed AP Physics 1 homework with my daughter and helped her think in the right direction to solve problems. The review was very helpful overall!

Excellent and friendly tutor

Very helpful physics tutor. Patient and accommodating. Has really helped my son with his college physics courses. My son is taking Physics 2 and has learned a lot from Eric.

Went over the basics without judgement and at a good pace

Revisited bedrock physics problem solving such as FBDs that really helped me tackle more of the problems. Went over a good chunk of the course material reviewing for the final in an easy and manageable way.

Shireen, 6 lessons with Eric

Explained concepts very easily and didn’t rush

Truly helped me understand the material in a simple and efficient way without just dumping answers on me. Eric will actually help you out, which is rarer than many think.

Great tutor

My daughter is enjoying her time with Eric, says she's learning a lot and her grades are improving gradually. I can see in the notes they're covering some good ground.

Beyond knowledgable

Eric is the best tutor I have ever had. Physics is extremely confusing to me but he always finds a way to explain it in a way that I can understand. He also is very patient and will take time to explain or reiterate something that isn't clear to me.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Eric helped me review kinematic concepts and how to approach more difficult word problems. He also helped me to better visualize how to do problem setup and consider splitting up problems into smaller, easier to manage pieces.

Great teacher, super knowledgeable!!

My daughter enjoyed her lesson immensely! Eric taught her in a way that made Physics more understandable and enjoyable. He did a great job of breaking down the material so that the individual problems were much easier to approach. It was very clear from the start that he was an expert in this subject and it showed throughout the lesson. I would highly recommend Eric to anyone who may be struggling or having a hard time seeing the bigger picture and conceptual aspects of physics.

Patient and efficient tutor

Eric knows the topic inside and out, he is very patient in explaining yet very efficient to walking through the steps Eric is also very flexible and accommodating when scheduling
