My master's degree in reading from Northeastern Illinois University qualifies me to teach reading and phonics at the elementary level and to diagnose and remediate reading problems and difficulties for all students Kindergarten to 12th grade. I also have a degree in history from Augustana College in Illinois qualifying me to teach social studies in grades 6-12. I tutored at Huntington Learning Center for 7 years and have spent much time there and in my own classroom teaching my middle and high school students how to effectively manage their time to study and complete extended tasks.

Handwriting

This reading program included instruction in language acquisition, which includes the reading/writing connection at all grade levels. The elementary class that included phonics, also included how to teach handwriting while learning to read. The motto of language researchers is "if you can read it, you can write it.
