Hi! I'm a Learning Specialist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who is passionate about helping children build the academic skills and confidence they need to succeed.

My background includes tutoring in reading and math at multiple Kumon Learning Centers, as well as providing private tutoring services to families throughout the Chicago area. Through these experiences, I developed a love for helping children overcome learning challenges and discover that they are capable of success.

Today, I specialize in working with children with autism, ADHD, and other developmental or learning differences. I understand that many children need more than repetition or homework help; they need instruction that is individualized, engaging, and designed to help them truly master new skills. I use evidence-based teaching methods, including Direct Instruction and Precision Teaching, to help students build strong foundations in reading and math. My goal is not only to teach skills, but to help students become fluent and confident in those skills so they can use them independently and successfully in everyday situations.

I strive to make learning positive, motivating, and achievable for every child. Whether your child needs support with foundational academic skills, skill fluency, attention and focus, or learning confidence, I create individualized lessons that meet them where they are and help them make meaningful progress. I believe every child can learn when instruction is tailored to their unique strengths and needs, and I look forward to partnering with your family to help your child reach their full potential.

Very patient and knowledgeable

Laurel helped me prepare for a Quant I final. She is very patient and knowledgeable of the subject. In total we had about three sessions, and each time she made sure I had every formula and took time to break down the questions in their entirety; something my professor did not do. I highly recommend her.

Perfect math and reading fit for my middle schooler!

Laurel is great to work with. She was very adaptable to the areas of math and reading my son needed. She worked within the the areas of focus that was provided to us by his school. She was easy to communicate with for scheduling. I will definitely go to her as needed and gladly refer her to others.
