Hello/Bonjour, potential student! I have 8 years of experience as a French teacher, most recently currently as a virtual instructor for students at various schools across the country. Prior to this, I taught in-person at a private Catholic high school and public high schools. In addition to my teaching experience, I have done official public school district homebound instruction (for students that cannot attend regular high school for health related reasons) for 2 years. I tutored officially after school for students on campus as well, in various subjects. I have been tutoring through Wyzant for 13 years now and very much enjoy it!

My philosophy of tutoring is to tailor the lessons to meet your needs. Every student learns in his or her own way and I do my best to present the topics in the way that works best for each.

I have both lived and taught (English as foreign language) in France, and enjoy helping students from all different backgrounds. I graduated cum laude from Missouri State University, thus I feel that I am qualified to tutor in many areas. At the end of December 2014, I earned my Masters in Educational Technology, with distinction. I am also an Illinois licensed teacher (subject area French).

I look forward to helping you achieve success in your subjects, so please contact me as soon as you are ready to learn!

My schedule fluctuates often and fills quickly (first come, first serve basis), thus the calendar on here may not reflect actual availability.

I've helped ages 7 to adult and levels 0 to university with French, as well as prepare and advise travelers to France/French speaking countries.

Michelle to the rescue!

I found Michelle when I jumped onto the Wyzant app to rescue my daughter, who was very anxious about an upcoming Algebra 2 test. Although we are in different time zones, she worked with us to schedule a lesson within an hour, and the quality of the instruction was top notch. Her method of using the interactive board for instruction is exactly what is missing from my daughter’s school math class. My daughter scored two grades better than she expected. We were both thrilled.

Great first session!

My son needs to bring his score up on his ACT but didn’t love the idea of tutoring. By the end of the session, he said it didn’t feel like a whole hour, and he thinks it’s really helping him. He agreed with no hesitation to have another session next week.

Incredibly helpful

Very flexible when we had a last minute schedule shift. My daughter was insistent that she didn’t need the tutoring but after an hour she said it was great and really helpful!! We will book more!

Identifying needs and working through the sat math lessons

Michelle was very thorough in her review of the SAT math sections. She also took some time to offer reading tips. My weaker section was the calculator session. Michelle identified problems and help me understand and make sense of the problems. I took my test on May 7th and Michelle held a review the night before the test. I felt great going into the test. thanks for your help.

Knowledgable, kind, and helpful tutor.

Michelle has helped me tremendously with ACT Math! She does not waste time on the menial stuff and teaches me exactly what I need to know (with many tips and tricks) for the ACT. She has a ton of resources and has always been able to help whenever I misunderstand a question and I am confident that Michelle has helped me improve significantly with ACT Math!
