I am a professional computer nerd who is a network engineer/network team lead by day. At night, and during my free time, I take great pleasure in helping others achieve their learning and educational goals. There is no greater feeling of fulfillment than seeing the “light bulb turn on” for a student on a given topic. I am a native Albuquerquean, a graduate of St. Pius X High School, and a graduate of the University of New Mexico (WOOF, WOOF , WOOF). My undergraduate degree is in Computer Engineering and my Master’s degree is in Business Administration with Management of Information Systems and Information Assurance Concentrations.
My educational and professional background in Engineering and Business has provided me the opportunity to keep my math and computer skills sharp as the years go by. Consequently, these are the areas that I concentrate on during my tutoring endeavors. I take equal pleasure in solving a set of algebraic equations via the substitution method and creating an excel worksheet using complex excel functions (I told you I was a nerd). I have been tutoring classmates, family members, friends, and those referred to me by family members and friends on and off for the last 14 years. I have enjoyed it so much that I have decided to tutor in a more formal manner and make a side business out of it, which has led me to WyzAnt.
As a father of 8 (Ages 18 months to 15 years) I understand the importance of a child's education and get plenty of opportunities to ply my tutoring craft at home as well as with my students. I do not have a single method for tutoring students as each of us learns differently. My goal is to help students identify the methods that make learning easiest (and most enjoyable) for them. The truth is, even for a tutor the learning never stops, I am constantly learning myself. For example, I have learned new methods of solving problems from several of my math students, and I am constantly discovering new ways to help students learn. I look forward to continuing the learning adventures with you and/or your student.
