As a teacher and a parent, I bring patience, a gift for creating structure, and a love of learning to the educational process.

I hold a Master's degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley, where I spent three years working as a graduate student instructor in English composition and sophomore literature survey courses. Later, as a homeschooling mom, I developed structured curricula from kindergarten through the seventh grade, combining creativity with a solid grounding in language arts, history, Judaic studies, math, science, art, music, physical education, and community service.

I am also a former technical writer in the networking and telecommunications fields, where I developed clear, accurate, and practical instruction manuals over the course of a 15-year career. In 2014, I earned my second Master's degree in History and Culture at Union Institute & University, and in 2019, I earned my third Master's degree in Jewish Studies at Gratz College.

Whether I am working with children, teaching college students, or writing technical manuals, my purpose is always to be an ally in the learning process and to inspire people to have greater levels of confidence in their own abilities. I have always loved the process of learning, and I have a passion for inspiring that love in others. I welcome students with a wide range of needs and abilities, and I look forward to helping you develop a learning plan tailored to your individual goals.

My daughter enjoys the lessons and I feel it brought back her confidence in herself regarding to reading, which was the main reason I looked for private lessons for her. Excellent tutor!

Great Tutor!

Rachel is a great tutor. She helps the student analyze the passages step by step and goes over both the argument and the patterns in the text. In just one lesson she is capable of going over a whole passage with all of the patterns, arguments, strategies and etc written out and it is an experience that my son has had with no other tutor. I highly recommend her and I hope that you giver a shot.
