asked 06/22/23How Do You Determine Vocal Type?
I found out that my vocal range is over 3 octaves- from E3 to an F#6. I know that's a contralto voice, but I'm wondering if that's a lyric contralto?

That's quite a range! Your voice type is determined by your tessitura- where in your range you feel most comfortable singing. If you feel most comfortable in the lower part of range then you might be considered a contralto, but if you enjoy singing in, and use less effort to produce your high notes towards the top of your range you could be a lyric soprano. If you have a lot of agility in your voice, and can move from note to note very quickly with ease, then you might be a coloratura. Most contraltos have a range up to an F5, so you have a whole additional octave to account for.
