Two men decide to use their cars to pull a truck stuck in mud. They attach ropes and one pulls with a force of 534 N at an angle of 26? with respect to the direction in which the truck is headed, while the other car pulls with a force of 775 N at an angle of 19? with respect to the same direction. What is the net forward force exerted on the truck in the direction it is headed

The first truck pulls with 534 cos 26° = 480 N in the direction the truck is headed.

 

The second truck pulls with 775 cos 19° = 733 N

 

Together they pull with 1213 N in the direction the truck is headed.
